The long read
Who they say they are, and what the record says
7OHMZ, written on its packs as 7ΩHMZ with an omega for the O, is a brand of 7-OH tablets sold in smoke shops and from its own site, 7ohmz.com. The domain was registered on 13 October 2022.[1] The first archived copy, in March 2023, is a blank WordPress page headed “7ohmz by thang botanicals 7hydroxymitragynine tablet”.[2] By November 2023 it sold one product: “introducing our new 7 hydroxymitragynine tablets”, in cards of three, with the line “try our 14mg tablets packaged conveniently in sets of three”.[3] The page called 7-OH something “known for its unique effects can provide you with a potentially enjoyable experience”.[3] A month earlier the brand's Reddit account had introduced them as “the first and still the only true 7 hydroxymitragynine product on the market naturally derived never synthetic”.[4] From 2025 the site called it “the original 7ohm tablet” and said “we are proud to be the pioneers of this industry leading the way as the first company to introduce a pure 7 hydroxymitragynine product to the market”.[5]

Figure 1. November 2023: one product, a three-tablet card. The card names kratom leaf extract as the ingredient. [3]
The companies. The site's 2023 terms began “we are thang inc doing business as 7ohmz”, gave a contact address of “thang inc 200 n vineyard bld honolulu hi 96817”, and said they are “governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the state of california”.[6] By 2026 the same terms began “agreement to our legal terms we are 7ohmz”, with no company named.[7] Government and court records name two companies. FDA's warning letter of June 2025 is addressed to Thang Botanicals, Inc., to its chief executive, Haywood Mitchell, at “haywood mitchell ceo 416 bryant circle suite d ojai ca”, and also to a distributor, “blackbird distribution llc d b a indigo distribution”, in Los Angeles.[8] The trademarks are filed by a second company: “owner name ftls holdings llc owner address 1450 sutter street 520 san francisco california”, a Delaware limited liability company.[9] The class actions say “defendant thang botanicals inc d b a 7 hmz is a delaware corporation with its” principal place of business in San Francisco and sue both companies as “thang botanicals inc and ftls holdings llc collectively doing business as 7 hmz”.[10] No state business registry was read for this dossier.

The marks. FTLS's filing for the packaging describes a teal card “with the letter omega of the greek alphabet in place of the letter o”, for “dietary and nutritional supplements derived from kratom”, with “first use aug 31 2023”.[9] Its applications have been suspended since 2026. The plain word mark 7OHMZ was filed in March 2024 by someone else, an individual.[11] FTLS and Thang opposed it (“plaintiff name ftls holdings llc and thang botanicals inc”), and won by default in November 2025 (“bd decision opp sustained”).[12] That application was abandoned in August 2026, when no statement of use was filed.[11]

Figure 3. The card as FTLS Holdings filed it with the trademark office in July 2024, claiming first use in August 2023. The omega in place of the O is why buyers called early tablets omegas. [9]
How it is made, in its words and in a patent. From 2023 to the last archived copy of the site, in July 2026, the home page said: “we are the only laboratory in the world able to naturally extract and preserve at scale the most sought after alkaloid present in the kratom plant”.[3][13] In 2023 it added that “our organic kratom is hand selected from our farms in borneo and sumatra indonesia”.[3] In May 2024 three individuals filed a patent application titled “method of converting mitragynine to 7 hydroxymitragynine”. The patent, granted in November 2025, describes oxidising a mitragynine extract: “a third solution including oxone monopersulfate and water are added to the first vessel”. Its first-named inventor is “inventor haywood max mitchell”, the name of the chief executive the FDA letter addresses. The patent names no company and no product.[14] A wrongful-death complaint filed in North Carolina in 2026 alleges that “the thang defendants developed and patented a method for converting mitragynine into a synthetic version of 7 oh”, and that the process was used for the tablets in that case. Those are allegations.[15]

Figure 4. The claim the site kept from 2023 to its last archived copy in July 2026: 7-OH extracted naturally, at scale. [3]
What they sell
The 14 mg tablet. The card reads “advanced kratom alkaloids”, “7-Hydroxymitragynine”, and names one ingredient, kratom leaf extract. As a 2026 complaint quotes it: “the front of the packaging lists the ingredients as 'mitragyna speciosa kratom leaf extract ' the dosage was listed as '6 servings 14mg per tablet 3ct '”, and the back says “product contains naturally occurring plant compounds from mitragyna speciosa”.[15] The brand's account said the dose had been set to meet a ratio: “the pre release was 15mg but now they are 14mg to bring the 7oh content under 2”.[4] From 2024 the card put a less-than sign before the dose; a buyer noticed that “the front now had a less than sign next to the mg per tablet statements”.[16] We think the active ingredient is 7-OH, with small amounts of mitragynine and, in independent tests, mitragynine pseudoindoxyl (see Lab results).

Figure 5. The card as a 2026 wrongful-death complaint reproduces it: a less-than sign before the 14 mg, and on the back, naturally occurring plant compounds. [15]
The range from 2025. In 2025 the site added 21 mg Rapid, 28 mg Sustained and 35 mg Extra Strength tablets, and two drink shots (“tropic thunder 20mg drink shot”).[5] By March 2026 there were “77mg maxxx strength formula tablets”.[17] In June 2026 a buyer reported that “they just released a 500mg bottle of 10 50mg tabs”.[18] FDA's letter covers three of the products: “this letter concerns your dietary supplement products 7ohmz tropic thunder kratom shot and 7ohmz 14 mg 7 hydroxymitragynine tablets”, and a gummy, the “7ohmz 7 hydroxymitragynine gummies product in strawberry acai flavor”.[8]
Who else sold it. Smoke shops, and web shops such as Pure Leaf Kratom, whose “7 hmz 7 oh tablets 14mg” Texas bought in 2026.[19] Some of the first tablets went to Wonderland Gardens loose. In 2024 buyers asked whether the store's unbranded tablets were the brand's: “are the omegas from wg the same as the 7ohmz tabs in the blister packs”.[20] The brand's account answered in April 2024: “technically these are 7ohmz tablets when we first started we sold a bunch of bulk unpackaged tablets to wonderland gardens”, adding, “this was before we changed our initial formulation so they do have an extra mg or two in them”.[21] Six months earlier the same account had replied to a buyer who thought the store's extract was the brand's: “we love wg mahalo”.[4] The “omega” buyers named was the Ω on the card. It was not the later store Omega Extrax. In April 2024 the brand accused that store of using “a knock off of our tooling pressing dies”, writing that “7ohmz has never made a flavored tablet nor will we ever”.[22]
Lookalikes. Other products borrowed the name. A buyer said of Eat Ohmz (now covered in our Exodus Enterprises dossier) that “it looks like a fake of the 7ohmz”.[23] The DEA's 2026 notices say of 7-OH products that “these products are commonly sold with names such as 7 ohmz”.[24]
What buyers report
Method: the local Arctic Shift archive of the 7-OH, MGM-15, kratom and quitting subreddits holds 1,980 posts by 1,122 authors naming 7OHMZ, 7ΩHMZ, Thang Botanicals or FTLS, from October 2023 to October 2026. Of these, 612 threads have the name in the title, after removing crossposts and lookalike brands. We read all 612 titles by hand and read the threads cited here in full. Most date from 2024 (392 threads); there were 161 in 2025 and 55 in 2026.[25]
Good reports. About 20 titles praise the tablets for consistency, from 2024 to July 2026. In 2024 the brand was the one other brands were measured against.[25]
Weak tablets, 2024 to early 2025. Thirteen threads between May 2024 and February 2025 describe tablets that felt weak or did nothing. In June 2024 a buyer wrote that “all of the tabs i got from them are like 4 times weaker than other vendors”.[26] In November 2024 another wrote: “just took 2 tabs and they didn't even stop my wd symptoms”.[27] In February 2025, after the tablets changed colour: “not 1 of the 6 hit me”.[28] Some buyers held packs whose lot was not on the lab page: “this batch as well as other batches are not on the website for test results”,[29] and in another thread, “lot number not appearing on their site”.[30] None of these tablets was tested.
Solvent taste. Four threads in 2024 describe a solvent taste or smell. One buyer, who wrote “i bought them directly from 7ohmz”, said the tablets “tastes and smells like acetone”.[31]
Counterfeits. Twenty-nine threads between May 2024 and September 2026 ask whether a pack was genuine or say it was not. A buyer described a pack with “no lot number authentication sticker no distribution sticker marked”, and was answered that “they aren't fakes they are just different packaging”.[32] The brand itself warned of copies: “knock off 7ohmz shots claiming to be 18mg just tested at 6mg”.[33] In mid-2024 it added scratch-off QR codes: “our qr code authentication stickers should be hitting shelves any day now”.[34] In January 2025 Thang and FTLS sued Seven Skies Inc., LA Candy and Supplies, Organic Strength LLC and individuals in Los Angeles federal court under trademark law. The complaint is not public on the free docket.[35] In April 2026 a buyer of a 7OHMZ-branded bottle of DHM tablets from the web shop Kures wrote that the brand, asked about it, said “they claim they don't make dhm products”.[36]
Orders and the site. Six buyers complained about orders in three years, out of 612 threads, so there is no pattern.[25] One wrote “i ordered a 30 count 7ohmz bottle for 150 and they send me a 6 pack 40”.[37] Another, in August 2025, said “they are refusing to ship it because” “i threatened to dispute to the charge”.[38] In November 2025 a buyer reported that the site's reviews page “lists the username and email address of every single person whose ever left a review”.[39] In June 2025 a buyer was asked for identification: “i was asked to submit id to 7ohmz is this normal”.[40]
Dependence. Twenty-eight threads, most in r/quittingkratom, ask for help coming off the tablets. In May 2024: “after not taking any for 14 hours the other day i woke up with severe withdrawals”.[41] In September 2024 a buyer described a cold-turkey attempt: “the ct wd jump was something akin to a demonic exorcism”.[42] Another said the first tablet was free: “i was handed one of these for free a year ago from the cashier at my local smoke shop”.[43] The brand gave out samples too, through a public code: “free 7 ohmz code '7sample'”.[44]
2026. In June 2026 a buyer reported that “the company 7ohmz now will not ship to oregon”.[45] In September, buyers reported a closing email, “kreleaf 7ohmz both sent out closing emails today”,[46] and “apparently they sent an email out that this is their last batch”.[47] We found no archived copy of that email. The last archived copy of the site, from 7 July 2026, still lists products, such as “35mg extra strength formula tablets 100ct bottle”.[13]
Lab results
What the brand publishes. The site has promised since 2023 that “we provide coa test results for every batch tested by accredited 3rd party testing laboratories”.[3] Its first certificate is a PDF for a “7ohmz tablet production batch 6 29 2023”.[48] By November 2024 the lab page listed tablet lots up to “tablet batch results lot pb 28”,[49] and by July 2026 it was split into “original formula rapid formula sustained formula”.[50] The 2024 certificate we opened is from Cora Science in Austin, Texas, and gives the client's address as the Honolulu suite. Lot PB.18, issued in May 2024, reports 14.9 mg of 7-OH and 1.33 mg of mitragynine per tablet, plus metals and microbes. Pseudoindoxyl is not on the panel.[51] An authentication page took buyers from a pack's QR code to its lot: “product authenticity verification verified authentic 7ohmz product”.[52] Buyers in 2024 held lots the page did not list (see above).

Figure 6. The brand's own certificate for lot PB.18, May 2024: 14.9 mg of 7-OH in a 14 mg tablet. Pseudoindoxyl is not on the panel. [51]
Independent tests. The largest series is TestMyKratom's (see the next section on its links to the brand). It bought the tablets and sent them to Cora Science, Anresco Laboratories and NN Analytics. Its first result, in June 2024, reads “7 hydroxymitragynine report results 14 9 mg unit”.[53] From June 2024 to March 2026 its eighteen tablet results run from 86% to 122% of the label. Eight of the eighteen are more than 10% off, in both directions. The Rapid tablet “contained 18 10mg of 7 hydroxy which was about 14 weaker than its 21mg claim” in May 2025, and “contained 25 60mg of 7 hydroxy which was about 22 stronger than its 21mg claim” that August.[54] In January 2026 the 35 mg tablet came in at “lab result 35 01mg per tablet” and the 77 mg at “lab result 67 86mg per tablet”, 88% of the label.[55] In March 2026 all three formulas were above the label: “lab result 15 71mg per tablet”, “lab result 25 37mg per tablet”, “lab result 31 36mg per tablet”.[56] The two gummies, labelled 3.5 mg, were far below it: “7ohmz pineapple lillikoi gummies tested at 1 71mg of 7 oh per gummy” and “7ohmz strawberry acai gummies tested at 1 40mg of 7 oh per gummy”. TMK did not grade them, on the ground that labs test gummies badly.[54]

Figure 7. The testing service's 7OHMZ page, December 2025: grades beside an affiliate buy button. Its tests are the largest independent series on the brand. [54]
Pseudoindoxyl. The card names no compound other than kratom leaf extract. Three tablets that Texas bought in 2026, tested at the University of Florida, held pseudoindoxyl: “tddc found that each tablet contained 12 50 mg of 7 oh and 80 mg of mitragynine pseudoindoxyl mp” and “tddc found that each tablet contained 12 30 mg of 7 oh and 1 30 mg of mitragynine pseudoindoxyl mp”, from two shops,[57] and “tddc found that each tablet contained 12 84 mg of 7 oh and 1 52 mg of mitragynine pseudoindoxyl mp” from a web shop.[19] Those 7-OH results are 88 to 92% of the 14 mg label. The State's petition says: “mp is not a natural alkaloid present in botanical kratom leaves because it cannot be naturally extracted it must be synthetically produced”.[57] NN Analytics' certificate for the “7ohmz 35mg extra strength 7oh tablet”, in September 2025, lists the analytes as “mitragynine mitragynine pseudoindoxyl 7oh mitragynine”, with “results mg unit 0 74 2 85 33 38”: 2.85 mg of pseudoindoxyl beside 33.38 mg of 7-OH.[58] A buyer, on the 77 mg tablet's results in 2026: “quite a lot of pseudo to not disclose”.[59] The DEA placed pseudoindoxyl in Schedule I in August 2026: “this temporary order is effective august 26 2026 until august 26 2028”.[60]
Solvents. Anresco's 2024 certificate passed the tablets on its “residual solvent screen 08 28 2024 pass method usp 467”, with methanol at “1960 00” parts per million against a limit of 3,000.[61] A buyer asked when TMK posted it: “how does 7ohmz get an a with 1960ppm methanol”.[62] The methanol was inside the limit the laboratory applied.
The TestMyKratom and Eluxir question
TestMyKratom graded more 7OHMZ products than anyone, each beside a buy button with the note “buying from our affiliate links helps us fund more tests and keep tmk running”.[54] From the start buyers said the two were connected. In September 2024 one wrote that “it's clear to me it's being run by 7ohmz”, and another answered that other brands also got top grades: “edp tabs 7rx tabs on7 tabs all got an a”.[63] In March 2025 a buyer asked the service to “put a statement on your site maybe on the about page about any conflicts of interest you might have with the 7ohmz company”.[64] In February 2025 a reply claimed that “the testing company was started by someone associated with 7ohmz”.[28] These are claims, and none of them cites a document. In June 2024 an account posting test results for 7OHMZ tablets said “i'm testing products for the smoke shops i run”.[65]
Here is what we did find. TMK's earliest certificate, from Cora Science in June 2024, gives the customer as “client testmykratom attention test my kratom gmail com address 1450 sutter street san francisco ca 94109”.[53] FTLS Holdings, the 7OHMZ trademark owner, files from “1450 sutter street 520 san francisco california”.[9] The street address is the same. FTLS adds a suite number and TMK's certificate gives none. TMK's later certificates give a Miami address. We did not establish what is at 1450 Sutter Street or whether other businesses use it. We found no record of who owns TestMyKratom.
The second link is a shop. Eluxir's domain was registered in February 2024.[66] In April 2024 its founder introduced it on Reddit: “our primary goal is to provide trusted 3rd party test results”, and “we have one product today 7ohmz”.[67] In August 2024 the same account wrote: “my product comes directly from 7ohmz a fact which they can verify”.[68] In January 2025 TMK named Eluxir among its first affiliates, a shop where “currently they are only carrying 7ohmz”.[69] From 2025 Eluxir ran checkout for TMK's subscription box, which TMK described as run by “one of our longtime affiliates eluxir”, and later for TMK's own tablets.[70] In July 2026 a buyer noted that “eluxir carries 7ohmz numbs and other ss brands”.[71] So a 7OHMZ reseller that described itself as a testing outfit became the testing service's shop. We found no document saying who owns Eluxir.
Regulatory and legal
FDA. On 15 July 2025 FDA “announced seven recent warning letters sent to companies for illegally marketing products containing 7 hydroxymitragynine”, and said that “7 oh is not lawful in dietary supplements and cannot be lawfully added to conventional foods”.[72] The letter to Thang Botanicals, dated 25 June, says “fda has received adverse event reports associated with 7 oh containing products”. On the gummies it says: “we note that we are concerned that your 7ohmz 7 hydroxymitragynine gummies product may be appealing to children”.[8] FTLS's trademark filing describes the goods as “dietary and nutritional supplements derived from kratom”.[9] The DEA's notice of October 2026 lists the letter (“7 ohmz or 7ohmz 710190 06 25 2025”).[73] Its July notice says that “users consistently report transition from traditional kratom leaf to 7 hydroxymitragynine tablets e g 7ohmz press'd hydroxie”.[24]
Texas. The attorney general sued two Midlothian smoke shops, Smokey's Paradise, in February 2026, and two California web sellers in April. Both suits cite tests of 7OHMZ tablets (above).[57][19] On 15 April 2026 the Ellis County court ordered the Midlothian shops, until trial, to stop selling five named products. 7OHMZ tablets are one of them.[74] The brand is not a defendant in either suit.
Class actions. In October 2024 four buyers sued Thang and FTLS in federal court in California, alleging that the tablets are addictive and the packs do not warn of it: “defendants' tablets are pure 7 hydroxymitragynine”, “14mg of it to be precise”.[10] In March 2025 the judge dismissed some claims and kept others: “the court grants in part and denies in part the motion to dismiss and strike”, giving “plaintiffs an opportunity to amend”.[75] No amended complaint was filed by the deadline. The companies then asked for “request for entry of order of final dismissal with prejudice pursuant to fed r civ p 41 b due to plaintiffs' failure to file amended complaint by court imposed deadline”, and the docket closed the case on 29 April 2025.[76] The plaintiffs filed a “motion to set aside judgment” and two appeals to the Ninth Circuit; we did not find how they ended.[77] Two more suits followed: one in California in April 2025, now on its “third amended class action complaint” (February 2026),[78] and one in New York in August 2025.[79] None has been decided on the merits.
A wrongful-death suit. A complaint filed on 10 July 2026 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina (“electronically filed date 7 10 2026”) says: “this is a wrongful death lawsuit that arises from the death of” a 36-year-old man in July 2024. It alleges that smoke shops sold him “7 oh labeled 7ohmz which was manufactured and distributed by defendant thang botanicals inc”. It quotes the medical examiner's cause of death, “acute mitragynine intoxication”, and names another brand's products as well.[15] These are allegations. We found the complaint because an insurer of one of the other defendants filed it in a federal case.
The site's own warnings. In 2024 the disclaimer page said: “this product is considered unsuitable for consumption in the united states by the fda”, and “do not use this product for more than one consecutive day”.[80] From 2025 the home page added “these products can be addicting”, beside a banner asking buyers to “help protect access to 7 oh sign the petition now”, and the heading “a plant based botanical extract”.[5] By 2026 it put state law on the buyer: “we make no representations or warranties concerning the legal requirements of shipping 7ohmz products to your state”.[17]
Age. The site has asked visitors to confirm their age since 2023 (“you must be 21 years old to visit our website”).[3] From 2025 it added “in states that require us to verify your age you will be required to verify age with our automated system”.[5]

Whether 7OHMZ has stopped selling. Buyers report a closing email in September 2026; the last archived storefront is from July.
Who owns Thang Botanicals and FTLS Holdings, and when each was formed. No state register was read. The FDA letter names the chief executive; the class actions name an owner of FTLS, but only as an allegation.
Whether the patented conversion was used for 7OHMZ tablets. Only the North Carolina complaint says so, as an allegation.
What is at 1450 Sutter Street, San Francisco, and who owns TestMyKratom and Eluxir.
How the first class action's appeals ended, what the Los Angeles trademark suit alleges, and how the second class action and the wrongful-death suit stand.
