Smokey's Paradise: two Midlothian smoke shops, seven 7-OH products and a Texas injunction
scored on 5 of 12 criteria · 7 could not be told
Be the first. The form below takes about twenty seconds and needs no account.
The two grades are never combined. Ours is what the record shows; theirs is what people who dealt with this entity say.
-
Is there an identifiable legal operator: a registered name, a jurisdiction, an address that resolves?
two Texas corporations named in the State's petition, both on the state's tax rolls; the Comptroller lists the Midlothian Smokey's Paradise 4 permit under a third company, Huskar LLC, not under the defendant named for it; no website of the two shops and no officers in the records read
-
Does it publish third-party certificates of analysis for what it sells?
the shops publish nothing; the only tests of their stock read here are the State's
Evidence: [2]
-
Where there are results, do they agree with the label, the marketing and the reported effects?
the State's laboratory found 42% to 89% of the labelled 7-OH in five tablets, 0.2% in a 50 mg shot, and pseudoindoxyl in all seven products; other brands' labels, exhibits in a pending suit
Evidence: [2]
-
Are contents and amounts stated on the product?
a tablet labelled as containing no 7-OH held 10.20 mg of pseudoindoxyl; a 7-OH shot held almost none; the labels are the brands', not the shops'
Evidence: [2]
-
No disease claims, no 'safe', no borrowed botanical names for synthetic compounds?
no advertising by the two Midlothian shops was found; the State's deceptive-trade claims rest on the products' labels and are undecided
-
Pattern of complaints about orders not arriving, long delays, no tracking?
walk-in shops; no buyer reports found
-
Pattern of complaints about wrong, inert, contaminated or mislabelled product?
no buyer reports about the shops found
-
Chargebacks refused, refunds unanswered, processors dropped?
-
Warning letters, seizures, lawsuits, attorney-general actions, platform bans?
sued by Texas in February 2026; a temporary injunction of 15 April 2026 bars sale of the five products and of any kratom product over the state limit until trial, set for February 2027; no FDA warning letter found
-
Is there any attempt to keep minors out?

The long read
Who they are, and what the record says
Smokey's Paradise is a name on several smoke shops around Dallas and Fort Worth. This dossier is about the two that Texas sued: Smokey's Paradise 4 and Smokey's Paradise 6, both in Midlothian, south of Dallas in Ellis County.

Figure 1. The attorney general's announcement, 2026-02-09. The 86% to 96% figures are shares of the alkaloids in each product, the measure Texas law caps at 2%. [1]
On 9 February 2026 the attorney general's office announced that it had “filed a lawsuit against kratom retailers operating under the name smokey's paradise with locations in midlothian tx”.[1] The petition, filed on 6 February, names two Texas corporations. In its words, “kunkka enterprise co d b a smokey's paradise 4 is a domestic for profit corporation with a principal place of business at 2410 fm 663 midlothian tx 76065”, and “rubick inc d b a smokey's paradise 6 is a domestic for profit corporation with a principal place of business at 800 silken crossing road midlothian tx 76065”.[2] Both, the petition says, may be served through the same “registered agent zt financial services inc at 1237 southridge ct suite 207 hurst tx 76053”.[2]

Figure 2. The State's original petition, filed in Ellis County on 2026-02-06, three days before the release. [2]
The tax rolls. The Texas Comptroller lists both corporations as active. Kunkka Enterprise Co was chartered in October 2020 (“sos charter date 2020 10 01”) and gives the agent's office as its address.[3] Rubick Inc was chartered in August 2023 at the Silken Crossing shop. Its Secretary of State status changed on 10 April 2026, five days before the court hearing described below, to code R (“sos status date 2026 04 10t00 00 00 000 sos status code r”),[4] which the Comptroller's record layout defines as reinstated.
The sales-tax permits tell a less tidy story than the petition. The permit for “outlet name smokey's paradise 6 outlet address 800 silken xing ste 104 outlet city midlothian” belongs to Rubick Inc, with a first sales date of October 2023.[5] The permit for the Midlothian Smokey's Paradise 4, “outlet name smokey's paradise 4 outlet address 2410 fm 663 ste 400 outlet city midlothian”, belongs to a third company, “taxpayer name huskar llc”, which began selling there in December 2021.[5] Kunkka Enterprise Co's own permit is for a Smokey's Paradise 4 in Fort Worth, “outlet name smokey's paradise 4 outlet address 3349 western center blvd ste 115 outlet city fort worth”, issued on 7 October 2020.[5] A fourth company, Slardar Tobacco LLC, holds a permit for yet another Smokey's Paradise 4 in Fort Worth, “outlet name smokey's paradise 4 outlet address 14200 trinity blvd ste 300 outlet city fort worth”.[5] Slardar Tobacco LLC and Huskar LLC give the same Hurst office as Kunkka does: “taxpayer name huskar llc taxpayer address 1237 southridge ct ste 207”.[6] That office is the registered agent's, and the Comptroller lists 67 sales-tax outlets whose owners give it as their address, nearly all of them other businesses such as car lots and restaurants, so the shared address alone does not show common ownership.[7] The records read do not name any officer of these companies.
Other shops with the name. A fifth company, A I K Group #4, LLC of Arlington, holds a permit for “outlet name smokey's paradise 6 outlet address 880 hebron pkwy ste 170 outlet city lewisville”.[5] The only website archived under the name, smokeysparadisetx.com, speaks for that Lewisville shop and one in Dallas: “we operate from two locations smokey's paradise 7 in lewisville and smokey's paradise 8 in dallas”, at “880 hebron pkwy 170 lewisville tx 75057” and “2475 s cockrell hill rd ste 600 dallas tx 75211”.[8] So the shop that the state's permit calls number 6 calls itself number 7. The site sells “from vapes and kratom to wraps glassware and more”, with same-day delivery.[8] No record read ties these shops to the two Midlothian defendants beyond the name, and neither the petition nor the court's order mentions them.

Figure 3. The only website archived under the name, in November 2025. It speaks for shops 7 and 8, in Lewisville and Dallas, not for the two Midlothian defendants. [8]
The USPTO has no trademark for SMOKEY'S PARADISE (a search of the register on 2026-10-12 returned none).
What they sell
Smoke-shop stock, and kratom products. The State bought seven of the kratom products in January 2026. The petition lists them: “smokey's paradise 4 sells the following flavored kratom products to texas consumers in violation of the kratom act and the dtpa”, namely Dozo Perks 7-OH tablets, 7OHMZ 7-OH tablets, 7Tabz 7-OH tablets and a 7O'Heaven 7-OH liquid shot; “smokey's paradise 6 sells the following flavored kratom products to texas consumers in violation of the kratom act and the dtpa”, namely Dozo Perks and 7OHMZ tablets and Tahi Mahji tablets.[2] Those are the State's characterisations of the sale; the photographs are of the products bought.

Figure 4. What the State says it bought: four products at one shop, three at the other, all sent to a university laboratory in Gainesville. [2]
None of the seven is the shops' own brand. Four are sold as 7-OH, the oxidised kratom alkaloid. The Dozo card reads “dozoperks 7 hydroxymitragynine omnia blend grape 100 mg chewable tablet”.[2] The others are “7 hmz 7 hydroxymitragynine 14mg tablet”, “7tabz 7 hydroxymitragynine citrus flavor 15mg chewable tablet” and “7 o'heaven 7 hydroxymitragynine shot sunny pineapple 50mg 30ml”, in the laboratory's transcriptions of the labels.[2] The fifth brand, Tahi Mahji, sells a “tahi mahji p s p blend lani watermelon 30 mg tablet”, and its label, as the laboratory recorded it, makes a negative claim: “label claim dose not contain 7 oh or psilocybin 30 mg tablet”.[2] The 7-OH and mitragynine pseudoindoxyl pages linked from the scorecard explain the two compounds.

Figure 5. The Dozo Perks card from Smokey's Paradise 4. Its face reads 100 mg a tablet; the State's laboratory reports 47.20 mg of 7-OH. [2]

Figure 6. A 7OHMZ card from the same shop. It lists kratom leaf extract as the ingredient; the laboratory found 12.50 mg of 7-OH against 14 mg on the card, and pseudoindoxyl. [2]

Figure 7. A 7Tabz sachet: 15 mg on the pack, 11.80 mg of 7-OH in the State's result. [2]
Two of the brands have a federal record of their own. In June 2025 the FDA sent warning letters about 7-OH products to, among others, “thang botanicals inc d b a 7 hmz 7 ohmz or 7ohmz 710190 06 25 2025” and “7tabz retail llc 709546 06 25 2025”; the DEA lists both letters in its 2026 notice on scheduling 7-OH.[9] The two names behind the shot and the Tahi Mahji tablets meet in one trademark file. The TAHI MAHJI application, filed by an individual “for dietary supplements”, gives its correspondence address at the 7oheaven.com domain (“oheaven com correspondent e mail authorized yes”); it was abandoned in May 2026.[10] These are the two products in which the State's laboratory found more pseudoindoxyl than 7-OH.

Figure 8. The 7O'Heaven shot. The label sells it as a 7-OH shot of 50 mg; the petition reports only the pseudoindoxyl the laboratory found. [2]

Figure 9. Tahi Mahji tablets from Smokey's Paradise 6. The laboratory found 10.20 mg of pseudoindoxyl a tablet, the most of any product here. [2]
What buyers report
Method: the local archive of 63 subreddits, including r/kratom, r/7_hydroxymitragynine, r/7oh and r/quittingkratom, was searched on 2026-10-12 for “smokey's paradise”, “smokeys paradise” and “midlothian”, and Reddit's archive was searched for the name in r/kratom, r/7_hydroxymitragynine, r/7oh, r/Dallas and r/FortWorth. Two posts name the shops, both links to news of the suit posted on 10 February 2026 in r/7_hydroxymitragynine. The one comment between them is about the law, not the shops: “texas has had these percentage laws they just weren't enforcing them”.[11] No buyer report about the shops' service, prices or stock was found.
Lab results
The shops publish no certificates; they have no website of their own. The test results that exist are the State's. The Consumer Protection Division says it “purchased all seven kratom products four from smokey's paradise 4 and three from smokey's paradise 6”,[2] and sent them to the Translational Drug Development Core at the University of Florida, which tested them on 23 January 2026. The laboratory sheets are exhibits C to I of the petition.
| Product | Shop | 7-OH found | Label | Pseudoindoxyl found |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dozo Perks Omnia Blend tablet | 4 | 47.20 mg | 100 mg | 1.70 mg |

| Dozo Perks Omnia Blend tablet | 6 | 42.20 mg | 100 mg | 2.30 mg |
| 7OHMZ tablet | 6 | 12.30 mg | 14 mg | 1.30 mg |
| Tahi Mahji tablet | 6 | 0.40 mg | none claimed | 10.20 mg |
The figures are from the exhibits; the comparison with the label is ours.
Two ways to read the same tablet. The State's case is about proportion. Texas caps 7-OH at 2% of a kratom product's alkaloids, and for the first Dozo tablet the petition reports “each tablet contained 47 20 mg of 7 oh and 1 7 mg of mitragynine pseudoindoxyl”, so that 7-OH “constitutes 96 of the tablet significantly exceeding the 2 statutory limit of overall alkaloid content”.[2] That is where the release's “86 to 96 of total alkaloid content” comes from.[1] Measured against the card, the same tablet is short. The sheet reads “label claim 7 hydroxymitragynine 100 mg tablet”;[2] 47.20 mg is 47% of it. The card bought at the other shop, from the same lot (“group 2 lot batch gp25074”), held 42.20 mg, or 42%.[2] The 7OHMZ and 7Tabz tablets held 79% to 89% of their labels.

Figure 10. The laboratory sheet behind the 96% headline. 47.20 mg of 7-OH is 96% of the alkaloids in the tablet and 47% of what the card promises. Signatures cropped. [2]

Figure 11. The same Dozo Perks card, bought at Smokey's Paradise 6 with the shop's price sticker on it. Same lot number as the first; 42.20 mg of 7-OH a tablet. [2]
The shot and the Tahi Mahji tablet are the opposite case. The 7O'Heaven sheet reads “7 hydroxymitragynine 0 10 mitragynine pseudoindoxyl 3 20” against “label claim 7 hydroxymitragynine 50 mg bottle”:[2] a fifth of one percent of the 7-OH on the label, and more pseudoindoxyl than 7-OH. The Tahi Mahji tablet, whose label says it contains no 7-OH, held “7 hydroxymitragynine 0 40 mitragynine pseudoindoxyl 10 20”.[2] The petition reports only the pseudoindoxyl for these two products; the 7-OH figures are on the sheets.

Figure 12. The 7O'Heaven sheet: 0.10 mg of 7-OH in a bottle labelled 50 mg, and 3.20 mg of pseudoindoxyl. Signatures cropped. [2]

Figure 13. The Tahi Mahji sheet. The label says the tablet does not contain 7-OH; the laboratory found 0.40 mg of it and 10.20 mg of pseudoindoxyl. Signatures cropped. [2]
Pseudoindoxyl was in all seven products. The petition's position is that “mp is not a natural alkaloid present in botanical kratom leaves because it cannot be naturally extracted it must be synthetically produced”,[2] and Texas bans synthetic alkaloids in kratom products. These results are exhibits in a suit that has not been tried, and the labels are the brands', not the shops'. The DEA placed mitragynine pseudoindoxyl in Schedule I on a temporary order: “this temporary order is effective august 26 2026 until august 26 2028”.[12]
Regulatory and legal
The suit. State of Texas v. Kunkka Enterprise Co d/b/a Smokey's Paradise 4 and Rubick Inc d/b/a Smokey's Paradise 6, Cause No. 119665, 40th Judicial District Court, Ellis County, was filed on 6 February 2026 at 2:20 pm (“filed 2 6 2026 2 20 pm”).[2] It claims violations of the Texas Kratom Act and three provisions of the Deceptive Trade Practices Act, and alleges that “despite known hazards and regulatory warnings smokey's continues to illegally market and sell kratom products in texas containing enhanced concentrations of synthetic alkaloids”.[2] It asked the court to “impose injunctive relief prohibiting smokey's from preparing distributing selling or offering to sell kratom products in the state of texas”, and for civil penalties.[2] The attorney general's own summary: “kratom is addictive and deadly and i'm suing these companies for knowingly endangering texans by selling products with nearly 50 times the legal limit of this opioid”.[1]
The injunction. On 15 April 2026 the court granted a temporary injunction after hearing the State's evidence and the arguments of counsel.[13] The order finds good cause to believe that the shops broke the Kratom Act and the DTPA, and that the State had shown a probable right to relief. It orders them, until the case is decided, to stop advertising or selling the five named products (Dozo Perks, 7OHMZ, 7Tabz, 7O'Heaven, Tahi Mahji) and any other kratom product with 7-OH above 2% of the alkaloids or any synthetic alkaloid. It sets a trial on the merits for 17 February 2027.[13] A temporary injunction is an interim order. It is not a finding of liability, and no penalty has been assessed.

Figure 14. The order of 2026-04-15 granting the State's application for a temporary injunction. It is an interim order, not a judgment. [13]

Figure 15. What the court ordered: no more sales of the five named products, or of any kratom product over the state limit, until the case is decided. Trial is set for 17 February 2027. [13]
Six days later, announcing a suit against Pure Leaf Kratom, the attorney general's office wrote that it “previously sued north texas based kratom retailers operating under the name smokey's paradise in midlothian texas the office of the attorney general secured a temporary injunction”, “in that case successfully stopping the businesses from selling illegal adulterated kratom products”.[14] Pure Leaf, a California web shop, also sold 7OHMZ tablets that the State tested. The two suits are the attorney general's 2026 kratom cases that our scams long read describes.

Figure 16. Six days after the order, the attorney general's release on its next kratom suit announced the injunction and linked the order. [14]
Rubick Inc's Secretary of State status was reinstated on 10 April 2026, five days before the order.[4] The FDA's warning-letter index returns nothing for “smokey's paradise”, “kunkka” or “rubick”.[15]
The Lewisville and Dallas site that also uses the name was still offering “hookah flavors shisha kratom and smoking essentials” for same-day delivery in March 2026.[16] Those shops are not parties to the suit.

Figure 17. The same site a month after the Midlothian suit was filed, still offering kratom first among its extras. [16]
Still open
- Whether the shops answered the petition, settled, or stopped selling kratom altogether. The order sets trial for February 2027; no later filing was found by search on 2026-10-12.
- Who owns Kunkka Enterprise Co, Rubick Inc and Huskar LLC, and why the Comptroller lists the Midlothian Smokey's Paradise 4 under Huskar LLC while the petition names Kunkka. The Comptroller's records read here give no officers.
- Whether the Fort Worth, Lewisville and Dallas shops trading as Smokey's Paradise share owners with the Midlothian two. The records read show five companies using the name on permits, and the shop numbers do not match across the records.
- What else the shops stocked. The petition lists only the seven products bought; no menu or listing of the shops' own was found.
