Psilocybin: legal

Psilocybin is Schedule I under US federal law [1], and psilocin is separately Schedule I under the same regulation [1]. Both are also Schedule I under the 1971 UN Convention on Psychotropic Substances [2]. Psilocybin was placed on Schedule I in 1970, during a period when it had risen sharply in recreational popularity [3]. It has since received breakthrough therapy designation from the FDA for treatment-resistant depression [4] and for major depressive disorder [4].
