LSD: legal

LSD is controlled in schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act [1]. Its two precursors, lysergic acid and lysergic acid amide, sit in Schedule III [1]. Internationally, LSD is listed in Schedule I of the 1971 Convention on Psychotropic Substances [2].

There is no legitimate medical use for LSD in the United States [1], and no approved indications for LSD-assisted therapy exist anywhere at present [3]. There is new interest in LSD as an experimental tool and for treatment options with cluster headache and the terminally ill [4].
