CannaClear: the Kentucky bulk shop that taught r/delta8 to fill its own carts

Who they say they are, and what the record says

In the autumn of 2020, if you wanted to vape delta-8 THC without paying a smoke shop for a pre-filled cartridge, the advice on r/delta8 was to buy a jar of distillate, a syringe and some empty carts, and to buy the jar from CannaClear. For two years the shop was the most-talked-about vendor in that subreddit: we counted 2,624 Reddit posts naming it, 657 of them in 2020 alone and 1,101 in 2021.[1] Its customers posted the jars, the blends and the recipes, and argued about it endlessly. Much of what follows is that argument, laid next to the documents.

The company is real and easy to find. CannaClear LLC is a Kentucky limited liability company, organization number 1092244, organized on 2020-03-27, with its principal office in London, Kentucky, "primary county laurel", listed under "industry miscellaneous retail".[2] It was active and in good standing on 2026-10-12, with an annual report filed in June 2026. The state's index also lists three assumed names for it: CannaClear CBD, now inactive; CannaClear Oils, filed in 2022 at a Barbourville address; and CannaClear.com, filed in January 2023.[3] The store's footer named the company from the start, "copy 2021 copyright cannaclear llc", and its certificates of analysis carry a Barbourville, Kentucky mailing address.[4][5] No page we read names a person.

The first post about the shop on r/delta8 is from 2020-08-12; three days later a buyer reviewed his first jar of "CannaClear bulk distillate".[1][6] It traded under other domains at first. Support mail went to cannaclearcbd.com, and in March 2021 the shop's Reddit account announced "we switched domains" to cannaclear.com, which the archive has captured as the store from 2021-03-13 to 2026-06-10.[4][7][8] The domain itself is older, registered in 2009, but its one earlier capture is an error page and says nothing about this business.[9]

The shop spoke for itself on Reddit as u/CannaClear: 20 posts and 300 comments between November 2020 and September 2025, most of them in 2021 and 2022.[11] It ran its own subreddit, r/CannaClear. In January 2021 the account wrote "we are only a 2 man company".[12] That summer it said it was "moving to florida".[13] It did not move. In March 2022 it asked buyers to help defeat a Kentucky bill that "would result in us having to move our entire operation".[14] The FAQ in 2023 still said "all of our orders ship from kentucky".[15]

On licensing the account was candid. In January 2022 it wrote that it was "not required to hold a hemp license" in Kentucky because it did not process hemp or handle plants.[16] In June 2022 it said it was "working on getting a hemp license" there.[17] We did not find whether it got one.

What it sells

Distillate by the jar. The 2022 banner said it plainly: "shop delta 8 thc products in bulk at wholesale prices direct to consumer".[18] Clear and amber delta-8 distillate came in sizes from a few grams to a kilogram, raw or mixed with one of dozens of terpene flavours, with cartridges, tinctures and gummies made from the same oil. By 2026 the store sold delta-8 by the litre.[19]

The long tail. From 2021 the menu grew sideways: HHC, THC-O and HHC-O; CBN, CBG, CBC, CBT and CBDV isolates; THCV; delta-10. In 2022 the lab-results page listed new arrivals including "thc b 1 gram", "thc h 1 gram" and "hhc p 1 gram".[20] In June 2023 the home page listed "bulk 10 oh hhc isolate" and "bulk 8 oh hhc distillate shatter", hydroxylated forms of HHC that few other vendors sold.[21] By 2026 the menu also offered THCA diamonds and "delta 9 distillate delta 9 edibles delta 9 isolate", all sold as hemp-derived.[19] Most of these molecules are made from CBD in a reactor, not extracted from a plant.

Where it came from. The shop said it resold. In November 2022 the account wrote that most of its products were not from MC Nutraceuticals' Vivimu, "primarily just our delta 8".[22] Buyers called that oil "HG", Honey Gold, MC's bulk line, and in December 2022 a buyer reading the certificate for "CCs newest HG(MCN) Batch" found that the "isopropyl alcohol has 81.79 ppm", under the action level but above the shop's other batches.[23] A certificate from May 2021 in the shop's name is for "plant flower cured", batch MCNFLW-042721: CBD hemp flower carrying 8.11% delta-8 THC.[24] The shop also sold distillate it called HCL, from a second manufacturer. MC Nutraceuticals has its own dossier, linked below.

What the store says about it. "All of our products are full panel 3rd party lab tested for quality and compliance" and "all of our products are federally legal and contain less than 0.3% delta 9 THC" sat on the lab page in 2022 and on the home page in 2026.[20][19] In 2025 the home page added that "all finished goods we offer are made in the usa" and that every product was "legal in most of the usa".[25]

What buyers report

We counted every Reddit post whose title or body names the shop, on 2026-10-11 and 2026-10-12: 2,363 in r/delta8, found through the Arctic Shift search index in four date windows, and 249 in r/altcannabinoids, 8 in r/CultoftheFranklin, 3 in r/THCaFlower and 1 in r/cleancarts from full listings of those subreddits.[1] Posts per year: 657 in 2020, 1,101 in 2021, 616 in 2022, 178 in 2023, 28 in 2024, 36 in 2025 and 8 in 2026. We sorted them by keyword; 418 posts matched a problem keyword, most of them questions rather than complaints, and 928 matched a praise keyword. We read every flagged title and 82 threads in full, comments included. Counts are of posts, and a buyer who complained in three subreddits counts three times.

Most buyers were satisfied. The bulk of the record is jar photos, blend recipes and flavour questions. "CannaClear again for the win!" (June 2022). "Shipping was really fast took 4 days to arrive" (December 2024). In January 2026 a buyer posted a jar "vac sealed on 5-12-21 still water clear".[26][27][28]

Delivery, in clusters. Complaints come in bursts that line up with the shop's own announcements. In late November 2021 the shop said a shipping plugin had issued old tracking numbers; in January 2022 buyers reported labels created and nothing shipped, and the shop blamed weather and a printing fault.[11][29] A December 2021 thread titled "You'll eventually get ripped off" ended with an edit: "CannaClear has since rectified the situation".[30] After the April 2023 sale, buyers wrote that support would "claim there was a technical issue with my order" and then stop replying; one got a refund only after writing from a second address.[31] In June 2023 a subscriber wrote that "my recent order never received tracking information" and asked for a phone number.[32]

Quality: about a dozen reports, no tests. Specks or "foreign objects" in a jar of HHC in September 2022, to which the account replied "please send us an email and we will send you a replacement or a refund for the jar".[33] A jar of terpene-infused delta-8 in January 2023 that "crackles when I try to dab it"; the buyer got a new jar, and wrote "they never confirmed what it was".[34][35] A half-ounce in April 2022 that had no effect, and a support reply "telling me no refund".[36] None of these was sent to a lab that we know of.

Refunds. The FAQ is blunt: "we have a strict no refund policy all sales are final".[15] A January 2023 buyer who disliked a jar of THC-O was told the shop had "a strict no refund or replacement policy".[37] In 2022 the shop explained an older case: in 2020 a pay-later lender froze its account because it would not serve hemp sellers, and "the only recourse we had for our customers was to encourage them to chargeback".[38]

Lab results

The shop published many certificates, more than most of its rivals, and the arguments about them are most of its Reddit history.

In 2021 its delta-8 certificates came from Havard Industries of Edmond, Oklahoma, on a Verde Testing letterhead, made out to Canna Clear LLC. The one for batch D8C-101521 found 93.12% delta-8 and no delta-9.[5] On the certificate's own face, the potency "Date Tested: 10/21/2021" comes eight days before "Sample Received: 10/29/2021". The May 2021 flower certificate has the same order: tested 5 May, received 21 May.[24] We cannot say why; a certificate that reissues a manufacturer's earlier result in a reseller's name would look like this, and so would a clerical date.

In February 2022, after the dispute set out below, the shop had the next batch, D8C-122721, tested by ACS Laboratory in Florida: "total delta 8 84.830", "total thc none detected", and passes on solvents, metals and pesticides.[39] The shop told buyers the old figure "was retested at 84" and that its Honey Gold oil ran at "84% compared to our HCL" at 90 to 96.[40][41] On the same days its lab page said every product was full-panel tested, the account wrote "we are in the process of full panel testing every single product".[42][20]

For its 10-OH-HHC, the store posted a file that is not a certificate at all. It is a printout from a chromatography instrument, dated January 2023, with one peak, an "area percent report" and the note "peak(s) manually integrated". It names no laboratory, no client and no analyst.[43] An area percent tells you what share of the detector's signal one peak takes, not how much of the jar is that compound.

In April 2025 a buyer compared the HHC listing with its certificate and wrote "I paid for 70R not 56R", the share of one HHC isomer.[44] This site's lab-results section holds no test of a CannaClear product.

Allegations: who says what, why, and what we could check

• That the shop's delta-8 tested "hot" for delta-9 THC. In November 2021 a buyer who said he was starting a small business posted a Botanacor test of a CannaClear jar, giving the chain of custody as "cannaclear -> me -> botanacor". The post is deleted; the comments and cross-posts say it found about 15% delta-9.[45][46] Motive: he said he had shut the business because he could not find compliant oil. The shop answered that "Botanacor is know for their inability to separate the two isomers", and offered to refund and pay for testing if a lab it trusted, "if you were to go with ACS labs" or Verde, found the oil over the limit.[45] We could not see the test. The ACS certificate on the next batch found no delta-9.[39] No deduction rests on this.
• That the shop's certificates were its manufacturer's, reissued in its name. In December 2021 and January 2022 buyers wrote that the shop's Verde results were the same as Honey Gold's, "the test results are identical", and "your COAs are re used COAs that honeygold had and made in your name". The commenters were customers and, by the shop's account, at least one was a single-purpose critic.[47][29] The shop's answer: it tests every batch it receives, and "just because we recieved a batch with the similar test results from our manufacturer does not mean we're lying".[47] What we could check: the dates above, and the shop's own later word that it posted "both the manufacturers COA and our 3rd party results".[48]
• That the shop is linked to a counterfeit-cartridge brand of the same name. Buyers in r/cleancarts asked about "CannaClear 3G Liquid Diamonds" disposables in 2024; one reply said "this brand of hemp doesnt have sufficient testing".[49] In 2021 the shop wrote that it was "not associated with the d9 BM brand CannaClear", BM meaning black market, and by 2025 its home page called itself "the only authentic and verified vendor of legal hemp derived cannaclear products like our vape carts".[50][25] We found nothing tying the two.

Labels and age

Twice the shop described label errors itself. In January 2021 a batch of delta-8 tinctures went out printed as CBD; the shop said a notice was on the product page and that "these were misprinted not mislabeled".[51] In January 2022 a buyer of delta-8 tincture found a THC-O label under the delta-8 one; the shop wrote that an employee used the wrong label and "we decided it would be fine to label over the incorrect labeling".[52]

Age: a "are you over 21 years of age yes no" button in 2021, the same style of gate in 2025.[10][25] In March 2023 buyers complained that "now they got this id verification" at checkout.[53]

Regulatory and legal

We found no FDA warning letter to any CannaClear name on the agency's cannabis list, archived in August 2026, and a web search for the company with lawsuit, warning letter, attorney general and seizure returned nothing naming it.[54] The FDA's page says "FDA will continue to take action" against delta-8 sellers; none of its letters is to this shop.[55]

The shop has long told buyers where it will not ship. In 2021 it wrote "we no longer can legally ship to California", and the FAQ says every box carries a letter for the police: "we include lab results as well as a letter to law enforcement in all packages explaining the legality of our products".[56][15] Texas buyers posted an e-mail from the shop about that state in March 2026, and in July 2026 wrote "Rip, cannaclear (For Texas)": the shop, which "shipped my stuff out quickly", had stopped sending there.[57][58]

The pages do not mention the federal law of November 2025, P.L. 119-37, which narrows the definition of hemp. A later law, P.L. 119-103, approved on September 2, 2026, provides: "Until December 11, 2026, the amendments made by section 781 of division B of Public Law 119-37 (7 U.S.C. 1639o note) shall only apply with respect to products described in paragraphs (1)(C)(ii)(I) and (1)(C)(iv)(I)" of the hemp definition.[59] Those two paragraphs exclude intermediate and final products containing "cannabinoids that are not capable of being naturally produced by a Cannabis sativa L. plant".[60] So that exclusion applies from November 12, 2026, and the rest of the new definition, including the cap on final products of "greater than 0.4 milligrams combined total per container" of THC and similar cannabinoids, from December 11, 2026.[59][60] Which of the shop's products fall under which paragraph is for regulators. Its latest captured home page still says "all of our products are federally legal".[19]

Still open

• Federal court records. Searched: the FDA list, a web search. A docket search under CannaClear LLC is still to be run.
• A Kentucky hemp licence. The shop said in 2022 it was applying. Not found.
• Who makes the rest. The shop names MC Nutraceuticals for its delta-8 and "HCL" for another line. The makers of its HHC-P, THC-B, THC-H, 10-OH-HHC and 8-OH-HHC are not named on any page we read.
• The 2021 delta-9 test. The buyer's certificate was deleted with his post.
