The two enantiomers are genuinely different drugs. Dextromethamphetamine is the potent CNS stimulant and is what illicit methamphetamine overwhelmingly consists of. Levmetamfetamine is a nasal decongestant, sold over the counter in inhalers in some countries, with very little central stimulant action. A racemic mixture also exists.
