  Paul Janssen — first synthesis, 1969

  Janssen Pharmaceutica under his direction: the bench chemistry was by E.F. Godefroi and Jan Heeres, with Janssen as senior author on the 1969 J Med Chem paper (patented 1968). This paper is the start of the whole Janssen azole antifungal line. Family name is invented — the site has no antifungal family.
