Akuamma Alkaloids

The seeds of Picralima nitida, a West African tree, are sold ground as "akuamma" next to kratom, and the pitch is the same: a legal plant with opioid-like effects. The alkaloids are indoles, as kratom's are, but the receptor data say something weaker and more mixed. Akuammine binds the μ receptor with modest affinity and, in the assays published so far, behaves more like an antagonist or a very weak partial agonist than an opioid; akuammicine is a κ agonist in vitro. Neither has been dosed in a human study.

What that means for a reader holding a capsule is that the sedation and analgesia reported in forums have no published dose-response behind them, that the seeds' other alkaloids are unquantified in any product, and that stacking it with an actual opioid or with kratom adds an unknown to a known. The dose gate on these pages stays closed for that reason.
