    Evidence: [16][17][15][30][42][44]

  • Are contents and amounts stated on the product?

'solventless live rosin' and 'full carcass distillation' on one listing; a THCP vape that is mostly delta-8 and HHC; mg of oil printed as mg of THCA

    Evidence: [31][32][44][15][29]

  • No disease claims, no 'safe', no borrowed botanical names for synthetic compounds?

cannabis-drink awards presented as hemp awards; 'we make our own products' later replaced by 'we rely on our manufacturing and production partners'

    Evidence: [2][13][24][25]

  • Pattern of complaints about orders not arriving, long delays, no tracking?

sold mostly through shops and online retailers; no delivery pattern in the threads read

  • Pattern of complaints about wrong, inert, contaminated or mislabelled product?

mostly praise for strength; hardware clogging; one bad-batch report with chest pain; one complaint about the flower

    Evidence: [3][36][37][35]

  • Warning letters, seizures, lawsuits, attorney-general actions, platform bans?

no warning letter found; delta-9 drinks sold from a state that banned detectable THC in hemp food in 2024; the federal hemp definition changes in late 2026

    Evidence: [45][46][28][19][48]

  • Is there any attempt to keep minors out?

an age check on entry and at checkout, adult signature on vape deliveries, 21+ on the packaging

    Evidence: [2][47][35]

  • Does it say what the legal status of what it sells is, honestly, where it ships?

an FDA disclaimer and THCA state lists that disagree with each other; nothing on THCA turning into THC when heated

    Evidence: [29][47][41]

The long read

Who they say they are, and what the record says

Several businesses trade as Habit. This dossier is about the one that sells THCA vapes and flower: the hemp brand at habitcbd.com, sold in smoke shops and hemp stores under the names Habit, Habit Sauce, Habit Exotics and Habit Extracts. Buyers sometimes call it “Habit by Sauce Bar”, after its Sauce line; the buyer who started that name later wrote “don't know where i got sauce bar from lol it's just named sauce”.[1] It is the only Habit that buyers in the THCA subreddits discuss, and the only one whose website calls itself “california s most award winning hemp brand”.[2][3]

The website names no company. Its terms say the site is “operated by habit cbd”,[4] its footer in 2023 gave a phone number and “san diego county ca”,[5] and its wholesale pages describe a brand, not a business: “habit is a cbd hemp brand created with a clear vision”.[6] The domain was registered on 2017-04-15 through GoDaddy, with no registrant printed.[7] The archive has full copies from December 2019.[8]

A two-column timeline from 2016 to 2026. Left, the licensed cannabis side: Habit Crafted chillums, sodas, syrups and tinctures from 2016; a 2018 GreenState award; California Leaf Company (3550 Cadillac Ave LLC) licensed as a manufacturer in 2020 and a distributor in 2022; California's 2024 ban on detectable THC in hemp food and drink; both licences surrendered in February 2026. Right, the hemp side: habitcbd.com registered 2017; CBD in 2019; delta-8 in 2021; a 2022 certificate naming Habit Crafted dba Ninja Consultation Group LLC; delta-9 syrups, HHC and THCP in 2023; THCA carts, disposables and flower in 2024; the 'most award winning hemp brand' banner in 2025; the federal hemp definition change in late 2026.
Figure 1. One name in two markets. The dates come from the archived pages, certificates and licence records cited below. [7]

There was a Habit before the hemp one. From about 2016 a licensed California cannabis brand called Habit, at habitcrafted.com, sold THC sodas, syrups, tinctures and glass chillums through dispensaries. Its 2020 pages describe drinks “infused with habit's proprietary nanoencapsulated cannabis oil”,[9] a “peach syrup 400mg thc 30 servings”, and a footer dated “2016 2020 habit crafted”.[10] Its chillum, the page said, “the habit chillum is packed with 1 full gram of cannabis excellence”.[11] In 2018 its drinks won a GreenState Cannabis Award, listed as “infused drinks habit san marcos habitcrafted com”.[12] San Marcos is in San Diego County. The brand's own history began “in the winter of 2015 two friends set out to brew a cannabis beverage”, and ended with Habit “quickly becoming the most awarded and best selling cannabis beverage in california”.[13] Those are the awards behind the hemp site's later banner.

The two Habits are tied by documents, not only by the name. Certificates of analysis posted on habitcbd.com carry the licensed brand's name. A 2022 certificate for a hemp delta-8 cartridge names the client as Habit Crafted, doing business as Ninja Consultation Group LLC; the laboratory marked it “for quality assurance purposes not a california compliance certificate”, and its verdict reads “batch result passed as california industrial hemp”.[14] A 2023 THCP certificate names the client “client ninja labs 3550 cadillac avenue costa mesa ca 92626 usa”.[15] The delta-9 syrup certificates of 2023 name “client 3550 cadillac ave llc” and print a state licence number, “lic c11 0001475 lic”.[16] Habit's 2023 sodas were certified as “crafted brewed soda watermelon sunrise 100mg”, for a client called Habit at a Costa Mesa address.[17] The certificates of 2024 give the client as “client habit lic n a costa mesa ca 92626”.[18]

Page 1 of a Pacific Star Labs certificate produced June 7 2022 for a Habit Delta 8 Vape Cartridge, client Habit Crafted DBA Ninja Consultation Group LLC, batch passed as California industrial hemp, total cannabinoids 70.843 per cent, delta-8 THC 706.40 mg per gram.
Figure 3. A 2022 certificate hosted on habitcbd.com. The client is 'Habit Crafted DBA Ninja Consultation Group LLC', the licensed brand's name on a hemp delta-8 cart. [14]

That licence number belongs to a licensed cannabis company. State licence data republished by a licence-search site reads: “california leaf company legally known as 3550 cadillac ave llc holds an adult use and medicinal distributor license located in orange county”, and “this license was created on feb 22 2022 and was surrendered on feb 22 2026”.[19] The same trade name held a manufacturing licence, “type manufacturer type n issued date feb 11 2020 expiration date feb 11 2026”, also surrendered.[20] A Type N licence is California's licence for infusing cannabis into products such as drinks and edibles. In 2023 the state cannabis regulator filed a notice for the same company: “the project is located at 3550 cadillac ave costa mesa ca 92626”, and the company “applied for a cannabis retail storefront business”.[21]

A KCA Laboratories certificate for Sour Gushers THCP, completed 03/08/2023, client Ninja Labs, 3550 Cadillac Avenue, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, with photographs of a black HABIT vape and a box reading HABIT THCP 2000MG Sour Gushers: delta-8 THC 12.6%, delta-9 THCP 0.295%, HHC 4.84% and 3.66%, total cannabinoids 21.7%.

A California Department of Cannabis Control Notice of Exemption from CEQA, received 2023: project title 3550 Cadillac Ave. LLC, located at 3550 Cadillac Ave., Costa Mesa, CA 92626, a cannabis licence application for a retail storefront business at 1687 Orange Ave., Costa Mesa.
Figure 5. The state cannabis regulator's 2023 notice for 3550 Cadillac Ave LLC, the company the syrup certificates name. [21]

So the hemp brand's certificates were ordered by, or in the name of, a company that held California cannabis manufacturing and distribution licences until February 2026. What the documents do not say is who owns the hemp brand itself, or whether the hemp products were made on the licensed premises. One buyer put the connection the way the shops tell it: “habit is a legit licensed cannabis brand that is sold in rec dispensaries in legal states”.[22]

The hemp website first described itself as a maker. Its 2021 About page said “we are proud to say that we are one of the few cbd brands that actually make our own products right here in the us”, and “we only create each product in small batches”.[23] The About page still said it in October 2025, “one of the few cbd brands that actually make our own products”.[24] The wholesale terms of 2026 say something different: “we rely on our manufacturing and production partners to test these products”.[25]

What they sell

CBD, 2019. The first full copy of habitcbd.com, from December 2019, is a CBD shop under the line “elevating the human experience”: tinctures, topicals, CBD live resin, pre-rolls and vape pens.[26] Its notice said “all products sold on habitcbd com contain 0 3 thc”, that is, under 0.3%.[26]

The habitcbd.com home page in December 2019, archived without its stylesheet: a menu of Topicals, Tinctures, Live Resin, Flower, Vapor and 3rd Party C.O.A.s, with tinctures in 300mg, 1,500mg and 3,000mg CBD.
Figure 7. habitcbd.com in December 2019 (the archive kept the text, not the styling): a CBD shop, every product CBD. [26]

Delta-8 and delta-9, 2021 to 2023. By June 2021 the menu had “delta 8 gummies delta 8 live resin” beside the CBD, and a tagline about wellness: “after all it s a healthy habit that you re going for anyway right”.[27] By August 2023 it read “thcp blends delta 9 delta 9 thc drinks delta 9 thc syrup”, followed by HHC vape pens, delta-8 gummies, syrups, tinctures, carts and dabs.[5] These are the intoxicating hemp cannabinoids: delta-8 THC, HHC, THCP, and hemp-derived delta-9 THC, the same molecule as cannabis THC, kept under 0.3% of the product's weight by diluting it in a heavy syrup or drink.

The habit/cbd home page in August 2023: a banner reading Ready to relax? We got you. Our new hemp derived Delta 9 gummies are exactly what you need, and a Featured On row of Simply Crafted, BWell Market, Ziggy's and HerbsnLeaf.

The drinks and syrups are the licensed brand's old line in hemp form. A 2026 listing for the flavourless syrup says “each bottle has 750mg of hemp derived delta 9 thc”, and promises “fast discreet nationwide shipping”.[28]

THCA, 2024 to 2026. In 2024 Habit added the products it is now known for: Sauce cartridges and 2-gram disposables, the Habit Exotics line sold as live rosin, flower, snow caps, pre-rolls, hash and badder. The 2025 home page lists items such as “1g thca diamond sauce live resin badder”.[2] THCA is the acid form of THC in the raw plant; heat turns it into THC, which is why a THCA vape or joint is a THC product in use. The wholesale page sells the flower to shops with “potent as f ck customers love our thca flower”.[6] The footer lists the states where THCA is not shipped: “thc a products are not available for shipment to the following states alaska hawaii idaho minnesota oregon rhode island utah vermont”.[29]

Live rosin. Rosin is cannabis resin pressed out with heat and pressure and no solvent; “live” means it was pressed from fresh-frozen plant. The Habit Exotics listings say both that and something else. The Papaya cartridge listing reads “solventless thca live rosin indica 0 3 delta 9 thc full carcass distillation for maximum potency”.[31] Distillation is a different process from rosin pressing, and it produces distillate. The boxes say Live Rosin and “2000MG THCA” on a 2-gram device.[32]

Figure 11. Habit Exotics, December 2024: 2 grams of oil sold as 2,000 mg of THCA and as live rosin. [32]

The site sells CBD, CBN and CBG products as well, and the 2025 home page carries memberships of the “texas hemp business council and the hemp beverage alliance”.[2]

In March 2025 a smoke-shop worker wrote that the shop was about to stock “mushroom gummies by habit same people that make the weed syrups”.[33] We found no mushroom product on the archived pages of habitcbd.com.

What buyers report

We searched the local Arctic Shift archive of 37 subreddits for the brand on 2026-10-11. 52 posts name it, from 2024-01-17 to 2026-09-05: 32 in r/CultoftheFranklin, 10 in r/altcannabinoids, 5 in r/cleancarts and 5 in r/THCaFlower. 19 are from 2024, 23 from 2025 and 10 from 2026; 13 were removed by moderators or deleted. We read 45 threads with their comments.[3] Most of these subreddits' archives start in January 2024, so earlier posts are under-counted.

What the threads are about Threads
Praise for strength or taste 20
Asking whether the brand is legitimate, or comparing it with another 17
Doubt that the oil is what the label says (THCA, live rosin) 11
Hardware that clogs 7
A bad batch, a bad reaction or bad flower 2

The praise is about potency at a low price. “one blinker hits me like a train”, one buyer wrote of a 2-gram disposable in July 2024; in the same thread another explained that “they have a website but they only sell vapes wholesale”.[34] In January 2026 a buyer posted the carts as a favourite, “love these habit thca carts”, and a reader agreed but added “love habit but their a i art packaging sucks”.[35]

Two Habit Sauce cartridge sleeves on a smoke-shop counter, Rainbow Belts and Cartel Glue, each with a 21.99 dollar price sticker, marked 510 thread cartridge, glass tank, ceramic coil, under 0.3% delta 9 THC, 21+ only.
Figure 12. On a smoke-shop counter, January 2026. The carts sell in shops for about twenty dollars. [35]

Complaints are fewer. In August 2025 a regular buyer wrote that the last carts from his shop “had darker colored oil than usual and they taste like absolute ass”, and that after a few days he was “starting to feel chest pain”.[36] A buyer of Habit flower in 2024 called it “some of the most suspect weed i've ever smoked”.[37] In May 2025 a buyer who bought a jar labelled live resin found from the brand's own batch notes that “this is the last batch they released which is thca isolate”, a crystalline powder rather than a resin.[38]

A lookalike shop appeared in 2024. A buyer asked whether habitsauceddisposable.com was the brand's, because “they have it cheaper then anywhere else”; a reply said the site did not work.[39]

Lab results

Habit posts certificates. The archive's index of habitcbd.com lists 204 certificate files uploaded between 2021 and November 2024, from laboratories including Pacific Star Labs, KCA Laboratories, CaliGreen Laboratory, PharmLabs San Diego, Marin Analytics and Excelbis Labs.[8] The brand's own blog sets the standard: “every batch should have its own coa that's the only way to ensure accuracy”.[40]

The drinks match their labels. The 750 mg strawberry lemonade syrup of April 2023 held 762.12 mg of THC per bottle.[16] The 100 mg Watermelon Sunrise soda of September 2023 held 107.7 mg.[17]

A CaliGreen Laboratory certificate for Strawberry Lemonade 750mg syrup, April 2023, client 3550 Cadillac Ave LLC, licence C11-0001475-LIC, 3550 Cadillac Avenue, Costa Mesa: total THC 762.12 mg per container.
Figure 13. The delta-9 syrup, April 2023: 762 mg of THC in a bottle sold as 750 mg. The client is 3550 Cadillac Ave LLC, with its state cannabis distributor licence number. [16]

A THCP vape that is mostly something else. THCP is a rare, very potent cannabinoid, and in 2023 Habit sold 2-gram THCP disposables. The certificate for one, “sour gushers thcp”, photographs a box reading HABIT THCP 2000MG.[15] It found 0.295% THCP. The rest of the 21.7% of cannabinoids it measured was delta-8 THC at 12.6% and HHC at 8.5%; the remainder of the oil was not identified.[15] On those figures a 2-gram device holds about 6 mg of THCP.

The early cart certificates are potency only. The January 2024 PharmLabs certificates for the Sauce carts and disposables, each “tested for habit”, list cannabinoids and nothing else: no pesticides, metals, microbes or residual solvents.[41] A buyer in r/cleancarts noticed in October 2024: “other products on their site have passed solvent testing but the cart i bought the tests included didn't test for them”.[30] Earlier that year another buyer had written that “the coa just links to the diamonds they supposedly use in them no actual coa for the vape showing what it actually contains”.[1]

A PharmLabs San Diego certificate, sample 1g Cart - Cartel Glue, tested for Habit, received January 25 2024: analyses executed CAN+ only; THCA 91.93 per cent, delta-9 THC 0.19 per cent, total cannabinoids 81.05 per cent.
Figure 14. Cartel Glue, January 2024: a potency test only. No pesticide, metal or solvent panel. Signature cropped. [30]

One cart batch, two answers. The same r/cleancarts post shows an Excelbis certificate for Cartel Glue, batch 0824CG, completed in September 2024. Its matrix is “Plant”, its moisture 14.3%, its THCA 30.88% and its total cannabinoids 30.34%.[30] Those are the numbers of dried flower, not of a vape oil. The certificate the brand posted in October for the same “batch 0824cg” is a full-panel test of a concentrate and reads 87.30% THCA.[42] A buyer who checked that October certificate in 2025 reported “they say 87 thca for cartel glue and 74 thca for the rainbow belt”.[43] We cannot tell from the documents which sample was the cart.

An Excelbis Labs certificate for Cartel Glue, sample 2408EXL2323.10238, matrix Plant, type Vape, batch 0824CG, client Habit, completed 09/17/2024: moisture 14.3 per cent, THCA 30.8806 per cent, total THC 27.380 per cent, total cannabinoids 30.339 per cent, safety tests passed.
Figure 15. Cartel Glue batch 0824CG, certified in September 2024 as a 'Plant' sample with 14.3% moisture and 30.9% THCA. The October certificate for the same batch number reads 87.3% THCA. Signatures cropped. [30]

The later certificates are full panels. From late 2024 the Excelbis certificates on the site test pesticides, heavy metals, microbes, mycotoxins and residual solvents, and pass them. The Alien Cookies Sauce vape held 78.06% THCA and 68.6% total THC.[18] The Papaya live rosin vape held 79.23% THCA.[44] At that strength, a 2-gram device holds about 1,585 mg of THCA, not the 2,000 mg printed on the box. The 2,000 is the weight of the oil.

This site's lab-results section holds no test of a Habit product.

Regulatory and legal

An FDA site search for Habit CBD and habitcbd on 2026-10-11 returned no warning letter.[45]

California. Habit is a California brand, and its edibles are not legal hemp food in California. In September 2024 the governor announced emergency rules requiring that hemp food, drink and supplements “have no detectable thc or other intoxicating cannabinoids per serving”; “the new regulations ban any detectable quantity of thc from consumable hemp products such as beverages food and dietary products”.[46] A 750 mg delta-9 syrup is the opposite of that. Habit's shipping page says “thc a products are unavailable for shipment to california hawaii idaho minnesota oregon rhode island utah vermont”, and “we do not ship hemp products to states where hemp is prohibited”.[47] The footer on every other page gives a different THCA list, with Alaska and without California.[29] Neither list mentions the drinks and syrups, whose listing offers “fast discreet nationwide shipping”.[28] We did not find whether the brand sends them to California addresses.

The Governor of California's news release of September 6 2024: Governor Newsom issues regulations to protect kids from dangerous and intoxicating hemp products, announcing emergency regulations to ban THC-containing hemp products.
Figure 16. September 2024: California's emergency rule against any detectable THC in hemp food and drink, in the state where Habit is based. [46]

Federal. Every page carries the line “all products contain less than 0 3 hemp derived delta 9 thc in compliance with the 2018 farm bill”.[29] That counts delta-9 THC alone. The vape certificates show total THC, THCA counted as the THC it becomes, of about 69% to 85%.[18][41] The 2025 appropriations law changes the federal definition of hemp to one “changing the limit to a total thc concentration of less than 0 3 on a dry weight basis rather than only delta 9 thc”.[48] A later act delays most of it, the total-THC limit included, from 12 November to 11 December 2026; only the exclusion of cannabinoids a hemp plant cannot make keeps the November date: “section 781 extension until december 11 2026”.[49] Under that definition none of the THCA vapes or flower described here is hemp.

The brand has written its own disclaimer for that day. Its wholesale terms say “we are not responsible for any products that ultimately are determined to be not in compliance with the 2018 federal farm bill”, and tell shops to test the products themselves.[25] They also say “vape products cannot be shipped via usps ups or fedex”, under the PACT Act, which requires age verification at delivery.[25] The shopping site says the same to buyers, “federal law requires adult signature confirmation on all vape orders”,[47] and by 2025 it opened with an age check. Its 2023 footer already said “these products are not for use by or to be sold to persons under the age of 21”.[5]

Allegations: who says what, why, and what we could check

That the THCA vapes are delta-9 distillate. This is the most common doubt in the threads. In November 2024 a buyer wrote that at his shop “the guy said it was d9 distillate disguised as thc a”.[50] In July 2025 a reader of another post wrote “these are most likely d9 disty sold as hemp”.[51] In 2024 a commenter in r/altcannabinoids went further: “i called badger labs and they confirmed that what was tested was thca isolate not the final product vape”.[22] None posted a test of a device. Buyers have a reason to suspect it: THCA is a solid at room temperature, and an oil that stays liquid in a cart has usually been heated or thinned.

What we could check: the brand's 2024 certificates, potency-only and full-panel alike, report THCA at 78% to 96% and delta-9 THC under 0.3% in the samples tested.[41][18] Whether the sample was the filled device is not something a certificate shows, and the September 2024 plant-matrix certificate for a cart batch shows that the sample and the product can differ.[30] Badger Labs' reported answer is one commenter's account.

That the live rosin is not rosin. In December 2024 a buyer wrote “while this is labeled live rosin i think its mostly the habit disty and some rosin mixed in”; another reader said he had emailed the brand and “they said it wasnt disty but true rosin”.[32] In May 2025 a buyer asked “do you think it's really live rosin”.[52] In August 2025 a regular buyer wrote “i know it's not real live rosin”, and a reader replied that “truth in advertising is hugely important to me”.[53] In June 2026 one reader answered the same question with “its literally dimond distillate with live rosin terps”, and another, defending the brand at length, wrote that “their live rosin tests consistently between 62 and 66 total thc”.[54]

A Habit Exotics Live Rosin Sunday Driver box: Hybrid, 2000MG, rechargeable vape pen, all ceramic wick, under 0.3% delta 9 THC, 2 mL.
Figure 17. The same line in May 2025, with the buyer's question underneath it: is it really live rosin? [52]

What we could check: the brand's own listing says “solventless” live rosin and “full carcass distillation” in one line.[31] Its certificate for the Papaya live rosin reads 69.7% total THC, not 62 to 66.[44] A potency test cannot tell pressed rosin from distillate with added terpenes.

Who owns Habit. The website names no company; the certificates name Ninja Consultation Group LLC trading as Habit Crafted, Ninja Labs, and 3550 Cadillac Ave LLC, all at or near one Costa Mesa address. California's business registry and the state cannabis licence records for those names are the next search.

Where the hemp products are made, and whether on licensed cannabis premises. The wholesale terms say partners make and test them.

Whether Habit sells its delta-9 drinks and syrups to California addresses after September 2024.

What Habit will sell after the federal hemp definition takes effect.

Changes

2026-10-11: first published.

2026-10-11: the federal hemp delay restated: P.L. 119-103 delays most of the new definition, including the total-THC limit, to 11 December 2026; only the exclusion of cannabinoids a hemp plant cannot make applies from 12 November.
