The long read
Who they say they are, and what the record says
Lockerroom Marketing Ltd. is a company in Delta, British Columbia, a suburb of Vancouver. It makes and distributes Jungle Juice, the first brand named in the FDA's 2021 advisory on poppers,[1] alongside some thirty other brands in small brown and silver bottles. It also ran, from 1999 to about 2015, an online sex-toy shop and wholesale business called Lockerroom. Every bottle it sells is labelled as something other than a drug: an aroma, a room odorizer, liquid incense, and since about 2019 a leather cleaner.
How poppers came to be sold under those labels, and the US bans of 1988 and 1990, are told in this site's deep dive on poppers and its deep dive on not for human consumption labels. Two other dossiers cover the American side of the trade: Pac-West Distributing, which owned the Rush trademarks, and AFAB Industrial Services, the Pennsylvania bottler that resold Jungle Juice in the 2010s. This page is about the Canadian company.
British Columbia's corporate registry gives the company's history in three names. It was incorporated on March 27, 1997 as Aroma Concepts International Ltd., renamed Lockerroom.net Marketing Ltd. in November 1998, and has been Lockerroom Marketing Ltd. since January 5, 2001. It is still listed as active.[2] The registry's free view names no directors.

Figure 1. British Columbia's registry: incorporated in 1997, under its present name since 2001, still active. [2]
The company has two websites. The older, lockerroom.net, is first archived in October 1999 and ran as a shop until 2015.[3] In 2011 it introduced itself as one of “the largest adult and sex toy distribution wholesaling companies in canada” and said that “lockerroom has been in the adult industry for fifteen years”, both making and distributing. It added that “lockerroom is not open to the public we operate as a warehouse”.[4] The same welcome paragraph pointed elsewhere for the company's other line: “if you are looking for our leather cleaner or room odorizer products please go to junglejuiceplus com”.[4] The company used a screenshot of this page as its specimen when it registered LOCKERROOM in the United States for “On-line retail store services featuring adult toys and sexual stimulation aids”.[5]

Figure 2. December 2011. The adult-store site of the same company sends anyone looking for its leather cleaner or room odorizer to the Jungle Juice site. [4]
That second site, junglejuiceplus.com, is first archived in March 2001 and is still up.[6] It gave a Vancouver address in 2001 and 2002,[7] then 694 Derwent Way, Delta, the address Health Canada used in 2013.[8] Since 2021 its contact panel has given the present address, “590 ebury place unit 202 delta bc”, with a toll-free line, a local phone and a fax.[9] The company's US trademark filings give the same two Delta addresses and describe it as a Canadian corporation.[10]

What they sell, and what the labels say
Jungle Juice, in the company's words. The earliest full capture of the Jungle Juice site, from May 2001, describes the product as “a radical new scent for men who know what they need”. The next line invites the reader to order the regular scent, “voted the best popper by those in the know”, and introduces a premium version, Jungle Juice Plus Platinum, a “limited edition, high potency, double filtered product”.[7] In the captures read for this page, that is the only place where the company calls its own product a popper.

Figure 4. The company's Jungle Juice site in May 2001, the earliest full capture. It calls the product a scent and, in the same line, the best popper. [7]
A year later the home page carried two notices. One, in red at the top, said “these products are not available in canada”. The other warned that the brand “is being knocked off” and told buyers that a 30 ml bottle not in the company's own box was a fake.[11] Counterfeits have been a theme ever since.
By 2010 the site was a Zen Cart shop selling Jungle Juice Plus, Jungle Juice Platinum, Man Scent, Colt Fuel, Blue Boy and Dragon's Breath, under the heading “buy authentic product straight from the manufacturer lockerroom marketing”.[12] The Platinum listing called it “the world famous leather cleaner in the special platinum edition”, “perfect for cleaning erotic leather”, and added “not for human consumption” and “do not inhale”.[13] The footer of every page then said what was in the bottles: “our nitrite based products are sold as room odorizers, liquid aromas, and liquid incense, only”, “we do not encourage the misuse of our products as inhalants or poppers”, “our products do not contain amyl nitrite or butyl nitrite”, and “they contain highly pure isobutyl nitrite, alkyl nitrites, cyclohexyl nitrite or hexyl nitrites only”.[12] Isobutyl nitrite is one of the alkyl nitrites; cyclohexyl and hexyl nitrite have no page on this site.

Figure 5. The small print under every page of the 2010 shop names the contents. Isobutyl nitrite is one of the chemicals the US banned in 1988. [12]
The same 2010 page carried a notice for the United States: “at this time, we are unable to ship any aromas (temporarily including Colt Fuel) to the USA”. It went further: “any websites offering to sell our products in the USA are breaching controlled substance laws”.[12] US federal law on these chemicals is a consumer-product statute, not a drug schedule. Since 1988, 15 U.S.C. § 2057a has treated butyl nitrite as a banned hazardous consumer product, and the term “includes n-butyl nitrite, isobutyl nitrite, secondary butyl nitrite, tertiary butyl nitrite, and mixtures containing these chemicals”.[14] Since 1990, § 2057b has added that “volatile alkyl nitrite shall be considered a banned hazardous product”, with an exception for a commercial purpose, defined as one “other than for the production of consumer products containing volatile alkyl nitrites that may be used for inhaling or otherwise introducing volatile alkyl nitrites into the human body for euphoric or physical effects”.[15] Both sections are told in full in /p/203.

Figure 6. December 2010. The shop stops shipping its aromas to the United States and says that anyone selling them there is breaking the law. [12]
The leather cleaner years. In 2019 the site was rebuilt as a catalogue for retailers, without a shopping cart. Its About page said “the original lrm brands have been around for decades” and told buyers to “look for the jj logo on all our new and improved packaging”, a new round 30 ml bottle, and the Derwent Way address on the label.[16] By June 2021 a second use had appeared beside leather cleaning: “our solution can be used as lubricants in preparations that provide lubricating action between machinery parts”.[17]

Figure 7. June 2021, after the site became a catalogue for the trade. The bottles carry the JJ Lockerroom logo the company later filed as a trademark. [17]
The April 2026 capture describes the bottles this way: “our leather cleaners are specifically designed and manufactured for the cleaning and conditioning of erotic leather apparel and leather erotic toys and accessories”, and “the product is neither manufactured nor to be used for human consumption”.[9] The bilingual caution panel ends with a sentence about the company's home country: “lockerroom products are not authorized for sale in canada”.[9] The page offers two downloadable catalogues, one of them “product catalog 2025 2026”.[9]

Figure 8. What the company says the bottles are for in 2026: cleaning erotic leather, or lubricating machinery. The last line says they may not be sold in Canada, where the company is based. [9]
The range. The 2021 to 2026 menu lists nearly forty names, each shown in the same white display box with the JJ Lockerroom logo: Amsterdam, Blue Boy, Blue Thunder, Cobraroma, Colt, Cuckoo's Nest, Eagle, Eroxxx, Fetish, Gaz, Gold, Hardware, Highrise, Iron Horse, Jacked, five kinds of Jungle Juice, Locker Room, Man Scent, Nitro, Pig Sweat, Phuck, Rave, Rochefort, Super Reds, Taiwan Blue, XG5 and Zap among them.[17][9] Three of those names, Hardware, Iron Horse and Locker Room, are also brands whose US trademarks belonged to Pac-West Distributing until 2026; the trademark office itself set Pac-West's LOCKER ROOM against Lockerroom's logo in 2022, as below.[18] No document read shows whether Lockerroom's bottles of those names are sold in the United States, or whether either company licensed the other.

Figure 9. The range in April 2026: some thirty brands in the same display box. Hardware, Iron Horse and Locker Room are also names whose US trademarks belonged to Pac-West Distributing. [9]
The trademark file: twice for nitrites, twice amended
The US trademark register is where Lockerroom has said most about what its products are, and it has said it twice.
2011 and 2012: the first wave. In 2011, as it began filing its own marks, Lockerroom also opposed someone else's. When Grand Canyon Products of Phoenix, the company that later passed Rush to Pac-West (/p/228), applied in 2011 to register LOCKER ROOM for leather cleaner and nail polish remover, Lockerroom opposed it.[19] The California Law Review's 2024 survey of the poppers trademark file, which read the opposition, quotes it: “isobutyl nitrate is considered by some to be a euphoric sex enhancing inhalant”.[20] Grand Canyon did not answer. The board's docket shows a notice of default in March 2012 and the opposition sustained on May 1, 2012.[21]
The company then filed for its own names. In 2011 and 2012 it applied for LOCKERROOM for its online store, JJ for odour neutralisers, and Jungle Juice, Amsterdam, Blue Boy, Rochefort and Manscent as leather cleaners.[22][23] The five brand applications were never completed: each was abandoned in 2015 or 2016 because no statement of use was filed.[23] The law review summarised the company's holdings as of its writing: “Lockerroom Marketing owns popular poppers brands like Amsterdam, Jungle Juice, and BlueBoy”.[20]
In August 2012 it filed a second LOCKERROOM application, and this one named the chemistry. The goods as filed were “chemical compositions comprising alkyl nitrates; chemical compositions comprising alkyl nitrites; leather cleaners”.[24] The examining attorney asked what the compositions were for: the applicant had to say “if, in finished form, these are substances in the form of inhalants, gels or liquids used for sexual stimulation or other stimulant use”.[25] Among the acceptable wordings the office offered was “Sexual stimulant inhalants comprising amyl nitrite”.[25] The company deleted the chemical class and registered the mark for “leather cleaning preparations”.[26] The law review's reading: “Lockerroom Marketing avoided the sexual stimulant claim entirely”.[20]

Figure 10. December 2012. Asked to say what its nitrite compositions were, the company was offered wordings that included sexual stimulant inhalants. It chose leather cleaning preparations. [25]
In 2013 it applied again for Jungle Juice Platinum, The Original Jungle Juice Plus and Jungle Juice Black Label Extreme Formula, as leather cleaners, and all three were registered in 2016.[27] An application for STALLION, for “topical preparations” for sexual performance, was abandoned in 2017.[28] Then the company let the registrations go. Between 2019 and 2022 five of them were cancelled because no declaration of continued use was filed six years after registration.[22][27]

Figure 11. What the company told the US trademark office its goods were. Twice it filed for alkyl nitrites, and twice the filing was changed before it went through. [29]
2021 to 2026: the second wave. In 2022 the company filed the three Jungle Juice names again as leather cleaners, on the strength of its Canadian registrations, and all three were registered on July 18, 2023.[30] A new LOCKERROOM application for its online store was refused, then registered in February 2026.[31]
The application that matters most was filed on July 30, 2021: JJ LOCKERROOM, the logo now on every bottle. Its first class of goods, as filed, read: “Chemical compositions consisting of alkyl nitrates; chemical compositions consisting of alkyl nitrites”.[10] In April 2022 the examiner refused it in part, for two reasons. “Registration of the applied-for mark is partially refused because of a likelihood of confusion with the mark in U.S. Registration No. 5084855”, Pac-West's LOCKER ROOM; and the chemical goods were too vague, because “the use of the chemical compositions is not specified”.[18]

Figure 12. The JJ Lockerroom mark as filed in 2021. It is the logo on every bottle and display box from 2019 on. [29]

Figure 13. The 2021 application as filed. Its first class of goods is alkyl nitrites, the chemical family of poppers. [10]

Figure 14. April 2022. The examiner refuses the mark in part because of Registration 5084855, the LOCKER ROOM mark then owned by Pac-West Distributing. [18]
The application then sat suspended for almost four years, waiting for the Canadian registration. When that arrived, in March 2026, the examiner wrote that “the following refusal(s) is withdrawn; Likelihood of confusion refusal”, without saying why.[32] On July 8, 2026, by agreement with the company's attorney, the first class of goods was fixed as “Chemical compositions consisting of alkyl nitrates for use in the manufacture of nail polish remover”, leather polishes, deodorisers and odour neutralisers.[33] The line for alkyl nitrites was dropped. Nitrates and nitrites are different compounds; poppers are nitrites. The mark was published, and a notice of allowance issued on October 6, 2026. It will register only when the company files a statement that it is using the mark in the United States on those goods.[29]

Figure 15. July 2026. The goods as agreed: nitrates for use in manufacturing. The nitrites line from 2021 is gone. [33]
What buyers report
Lockerroom sells to shops, so first-hand accounts of the company are few. Searches of r/poppers on 2026-10-12 for “jungle juice”, “lockerroom” and “BBK” returned three posts, all read; a search of r/gaybros for “jungle juice” returned seven, of which two concern Jungle Juice and were read; r/vancouver returned none.
In 2017 a poster with a bottle of Jungle Juice Black Label asked, of its label: “do you think it will actually work as a cleaner”.[34] In 2018 another, in the United States, “was looking into jungle juice from canada but am worried could i get in trouble for ordering”.[35] A third asked how to tell a genuine bottle. Theirs came in a box “labeled as distributed by BBK Marketing in Vancouver but the phone number reverse searches to Lockerroom Marketing”, and its “cap has a sticker stating contents alkyl nitrite”.[36] No registry read has a BBK Marketing in British Columbia, so whether that box was Lockerroom's, a reseller's or a counterfeit is open.
The company's own pages have warned of fakes since 2002, when it said the brand “is being knocked off”.[11] Any report about a Jungle Juice bottle carries that uncertainty.
Allegations: who says what, why, and what we could check
A buyer's account of lasting harm (2023). In a long r/gaybros post titled as a warning, a buyer wrote that after using a Jungle Juice bottle they “had severe headaches almost immediately”, followed by tinnitus, blurred vision and dizziness lasting three years. They wrote that when they asked the company about the chemical, it “had no interest in confirming anything about the chemical in their product and ignored my emails”.[37] Who says it: one buyer, writing about their own health, in a thread of more than four hundred comments, some sympathetic and some dismissive. Why they might say it: the poster runs a site warning about poppers and asks readers to contribute. What we could check: nothing about the bottle. The post names no batch, and the company has warned of counterfeits for twenty years. The eye damage that some poppers users suffer is documented in the medical literature, set out in /p/208. This account carries no weight in the scorecard above.
Lab results
The company has never published an analysis of any of its products. In 2010 it named the contents in the footer of its shop; its current pages name none.[12][9]
Health Canada has. Its seizure notices list the brand repeatedly. In May 2019, three Jungle Juice products seized from Toronto shops were described as “Labelled to contain isobutyl nitrite, an alkyl nitrite”, or alkyl nitrite alone.[38] In February 2021 Jungle Juice Platinum and Jungle Juice Platinum Black were removed from a shop in Grande Prairie, Alberta.[39] In June 2024, from a shop in Etobicoke, Health Canada listed Jungle Juice Platinum with the note: “Product with similar packaging (previously seized) was tested and found to contain isobutyl nitrite”.[40] The same finding appears against a 2023 seizure in Quebec.[40] That is a laboratory result, but on a bottle that looked like Jungle Juice Platinum, and Health Canada does not say whether it was the company's. It matches what the company itself said in 2010, and not what the label says now.

Figure 16. Health Canada, 2024. A bottle in Jungle Juice Platinum packaging, seized earlier, tested positive for isobutyl nitrite. The notice does not say who made it. [40]
Regulatory and legal
Canada. On May 16, 2013, Health Canada issued an advisory about three products sold as leather cleaner or liquid incense: Rochefort, Rush and Amsterdam Special. Its view of the label was that “Health Canada is not aware of credible evidence confirming that alkyl nitrites are legitimately used in consumer products such as leather cleaners”.[8] It named the supplier: “Lockerroom Marketing Ltd. (694 Derwent Way, Delta, B.C.) has been distributing” the three and other products containing alkyl nitrites, and “Health Canada is following up with this company regarding the stop sale and recall of these products”.[8] The follow-up notice that year, updated until 2017, stated the legal position: “products containing alkyl nitrites are considered drugs under the Food and Drugs Act and must be authorized by Health Canada to be legally sold”.[41] Its lists of shops where poppers were found, from British Columbia to Nova Scotia, include Jungle Juice, Jungle Juice Plus, Jungle Juice Platinum, Rochefort, Amsterdam and Man Scent.[41] Rush, in 2013, was a brand whose US marks belonged to a different company; Lockerroom's current range does not include it.[9]

Figure 17. Health Canada, May 16, 2013. The company is named as the distributor and asked to stop sale and recall. [8]
No later action naming the company was found on Health Canada's recall site, which was searched for “lockerroom” and “jungle juice” on 2026-10-12. The seizures since 2013 name shops, not the distributor.[38][39][40] The company's own caution panel now says its products are “not authorized for sale in canada”.[9]
United States. The FDA's June 24, 2021 advisory on poppers named the brand first: “Brand names include Jungle Juice, Extreme Formula, HardWare, Quick Silver, Super RUSH, Super RUSH Nail Polish Remover and Premium Ironhorse, among others”.[1] Its consumer update the next month said the products are “labeled with names like Rush, Super Rush, Jungle Juice, Locker Room, Sub Zero, Iron Horse”.[42] Neither names a company. No warning letter, import alert or court case naming Lockerroom Marketing was found in the sources read for this page. Its only US proceeding of record is the 2011 opposition it won.[21] Whether its Jungle Juice is sold in the United States now, and by whom, is not shown by any document read; the company stopped shipping there itself in 2010.[12]
Still open
- Who runs the company. British Columbia's free registry view lists no directors or officers.[2]
- The 2011 opposition. Lockerroom's own notice is quoted here as the law review quotes it.[20]
- The Canadian trademarks. The Canadian registrations behind the US filings are known here only as the US file states them.[29]
- Why the confusion refusal was withdrawn. The May 2026 office action withdraws it without a reason; Pac-West's LOCKER ROOM registration is still live under its new owner.[32]
- US sales. Who sells Jungle Juice in the United States today, and whether those bottles come from Delta, is not in any record read.
- What is in a bottle known to be genuine. No published analysis exists.
