Where the law actually stands, and by what instrument. This page holds scheduling status with the citation it rests on, pending and proposed actions and the documents behind them, analogue and precursor provisions that catch a substance without naming it, and the places where the answer differs by country or state. Control status is not one fact: something can be scheduled federally and not locally, prescription-only in one country and uncontrolled in the next, or legal to hold and illegal to sell.

Legal status is not a safety statement, and the two are routinely confused: unscheduled usually means unstudied rather than benign, and a scheduling move tends to follow harm rather than predict it. Nothing here is legal advice. A status can also change between the day it is written and the day it is read, which is why the instrument is named — so a reader can check whether it still says that.
