  • Paul Janssen — first synthesis, 1988

Janssen Pharmaceutica under his direction, not his own bench work. Code R 64 766, made in the mid-1980s and first described in 1988 with Janssen as first author of the pharmacology paper; the year given is that first description, not a confirmed synthesis date. He described its design himself as the line running from haloperidol through pipamperone and ketanserin to a combined 5-HT2/D2 antagonist. Approved in the US in 1993.
