Terms, disclaimers, and what this site will not do

by ch3ch3 · 24d ago · 0 comments

Plain language, because terms nobody reads protect nobody. This page is not legal advice and it is not medical advice.

What this site is

An information and discussion site about psychoactive substances, written from a harm reduction position. It exists to reduce the damage done by drug use, including the damage done by inaccurate information about drug use.

What it is not

  • Not medical advice. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prescription, or a substitute for a clinician. If someone is in danger right now, contact emergency services — that is the correct action and this site is not a substitute for it.
  • Not legal advice. Legality varies enormously by jurisdiction and changes without notice. Legal information on this site describes our understanding of the law in a place at a time; it is not advice about your situation, and it may be out of date.
  • Not a supplier, and not a directory of suppliers. We do not sell anything, we do not link to anyone who does, and we do not host vendor listings, vendor reviews or sourcing discussion. This is a firm rule, it is enforced by moderation, and it is not negotiable.
  • Not an encouragement. Documenting what a substance does is not a recommendation to take it. A significant amount of what is written here amounts to reasons not to.

Using the site

  • You must be old enough to enter into this agreement where you live, and in any case 18 or over.
  • You are responsible for what you post. Do not post anything unlawful where you are, anything that identifies another person without their consent, or anything intended to help someone obtain a controlled substance.
  • Do not request or provide sourcing. Do not post vendor names, marketplace links, or contact details for either.
  • Do not post synthesis routes. Reaction chemistry that exists to be followed is out of scope regardless of how it is framed.
  • Accounts are for people. Automated posting, scraping at volume, and attempts to bypass rate limits are grounds for removal.

We can remove content and suspend accounts, including for reasons not listed above, and including where we are simply not confident enough about a post to leave it up.

Content on this site

Official content is written and reviewed by the site and marked with an official badge. It carries references where it makes factual claims. It is produced with the assistance of language models under the checked, cited pipeline described in Project, and reviewed before publication.

Member content is the opinion and experience of the person who posted it. We moderate it, but we do not verify it, and it should be read as what one person says happened to them.

Both kinds can be wrong. Where they concern dose, interaction or risk, treat them as a starting point for checking rather than as an endpoint.

You keep ownership of what you post, and grant us a non-exclusive licence to store, display and distribute it as part of the site, including after your account is closed — otherwise every departure would tear holes in years of threads other people are still relying on. Ask us to remove a specific post and we will consider it on the merits.

Third-party material

Chemical structures and identifiers are derived from public chemistry databases. Portraits and other images are used only where the licence permits it — public domain, CC0, CC BY or CC BY-SA — and every image carries its credit and licence: always shown in the gallery lightbox, and on every image across the site for anyone who switches image credits on in Settings. We do not use images under a fair-use or non-free claim.

If you hold rights in something published here and believe it is being used improperly, report it and we will act on it. Identify the material and where it appears.

Two kinds of image on this site are neither member uploads nor third-party work:

  • Generated art. The decorative header bands on section pages are model-generated. Each one records the model that made it and the exact prompt; the on-image "AI image" label naming the model shows for anyone with image credits switched on in Settings, and the database refuses to let a generated picture appear anywhere a reader might treat it as a photograph of a substance. That refusal is a schema constraint, not an editorial habit.
  • Screenshots. Pictures of this site are this site's own work, and each one links to the live page it shows.

Privacy, briefly

  • We store what an account needs to work: your username, a hashed passphrase or passkey credential, your posts and uploads, and — only if you provide one — an email address for recovery.
  • There are no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking scripts on this site, and no page here loads a script from anyone else's server.
  • Images cannot be hotlinked into posts. Anything displayed inline is served from our own storage, so reading a page does not report your IP address to a third party. This is enforced in code, not by policy.
  • Uploaded images have their metadata stripped, including GPS coordinates and camera identifiers, before they are stored.
  • Server logs and rate limiting record IP addresses for a limited period. That is what keeps the site usable under abuse.
  • We do not sell data. There is nobody to sell it to who we would want to sell it to.

Use a passkey or a passphrase you use nowhere else, and consider not providing an email address — recovery is the only thing it is used for.

No warranty, and limits

The site is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent the law where you are allows, we are not liable for loss or harm arising from use of it or reliance on anything in it. Where the law does not allow that exclusion, it does not apply to you.

Changes

These terms will change. Material changes will be posted in this section rather than quietly swapped in, and the post history is the record of what changed and when.

Contact

Use the report control on any page. It reaches the people who run the site, and it carries the context needed to act on the report.
